Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly continuing their negotiations with Bologna for Japan international Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The talks have been going for well over a month, with Spurs beating competition from Atalanta to secure personal terms.

They are also seemingly prepared to pay €20m for the versatile defender, who can play as a centre-back, right-back or even as a defensive midfielder.

According to Calciomercato.it, the only thing holding up the transfer is the way Tottenham intend to pay.

Bologna want liquidity and are looking for a big cash injection, whereas the Premier League side would prefer to spread the payment out, perhaps with a loan and obligation to buy.

Negotiations continue and Tomiyasu does appear to have his heart set on this move, which would be the second time this summer that new Tottenham director of sport Fabio Paratici has gone to Serie A for a defender after the €50m plus bonuses deal for Atalanta centre-back Cristian Romero.

Tomiyasu first came to Europe with Belgian side VV Sint-Truiden in January 2018, moving to Bologna for €7m in the summer of 2019.
