Inter‘s transfer plans in the early stages of the summer transfer window may be ruined with Guglielmo Vicario close to joining Tottenham and Milan able to afford Davide Frattesi’s signing after Sandro Tonali’s move to Newcastle.

Sky Sport Italia reported on Wednesday evening that Spurs had reached a verbal agreement with Empoli for Vicario. The Italy international was Inter’s primary target to replace André Onana, wanted by Manchester United, but the Red Devils still haven’t submitted a bid for the Cameroon international.

If Vicario completes a move to North London and Onana leaves, Beppe Marotta will be forced to look for alternative targets in goal and according to Gazzetta, Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili, 22, and Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer, 34, are the main alternatives to Vicario for the Nerazzurri.

It’s also a race against the clock for the signing of Frattesi, which Inter can afford once Marcelo Brozovic leaves the Stadio Meazza.

The Croatia international hinted at an imminent departure on Wednesday morning with a big offer of Al-Nassr on the table. However, their city rivals are soon expected to finalise Tonali’s sale to Newcastle, earning more than €70m and meeting Sassuolo‘s asking price for Frattesi which is in the region of €40m.

Tonali and Frattesi have the same agent, Beppe Riso, who has already held talks with Inter and Juventus regarding the Sassuolo midfielder. The Neroverdi director Giovanni Carnevali said on Wednesday that “nobody” is currently leading the race to secure the services of the Italy international.
