Torres arrived yesterday and underwent the first part of his thorough medical, going through more tests today at a different clinic.

Sky Sport Italia claim the 30-year-old passed with flying colours and impressed the medical staff with his fitness levels.

They also insist Torres phoned his Chelsea teammate Van Ginkel and urged him to give the all-clear for a loan spell at Milan.

The club has been waiting on an answer for several days, but the Dutch midfielder is adamant he wants to fight for a place at Stamford Bridge.

It would be a one-season loan with no option to make the move permanent.
