Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira admits he hopes Patrik Schick doesn’t play for Roma this weekend.

The Czech striker left the Blucerchiati to join the capital club this summer, and could make his debut at Marassi on Saturday night.

“I’ll definitely embrace him,” Torreira told Il Messaggero.

“I have a good relationship with him. I don’t know if he’ll play on Saturday – I hope not!

“In any case we’ll greet each other with great affection.

“I really like [Daniele] De Rossi, he’s a great player who I always follow closely so I can learn something.

“Roma are always one of the strongest teams in Italy, I don’t consider them to be inferior to Juventus and Napoli.

“They always play to win, but in terms of Saturday we’re preparing to do the same. We can count on a group where everyone, from the starters to the reserves has character and the right mentality.”

Roma were said to be interested in Torreira during the summer transfer window…

“I observed it all calmly, because I was in Uruguay with my family. I heard about talks with Roma and with several other clubs.

“My priority was to renew with Samp and I’m happy to stay here.”
