“I haven’t thought for one second about replacing him,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I pursued him for many years. Only a month-and-half, two months ago, we were talking about a renewal.

“Of course, we will continue the talks soon and we will decide together, but it’s something that will happen very soon.”

Despite their poor run, the patron is confident his team have turned a corner with the victory over Brescia, highlighting the “great potential” they have.

“He regrouped and got an excellent result at Brescia, but we had already given a strong signal against Juventus.

“Despite losing the game, we clearly deserved more from it. When you aren’t scoring, it’s always a bad thing and we need to start doing it again.

“I truly believe that this is a team with a great potential, but now we have to take one game at a time.

“We can’t look to far ahead. It’s time to focus on our tasks and on every single game.

“At the end of the season, we will count the points we have and see where we have arrived.”

Toro are back in action against Inter after the international break on November 23.
