Torino striker Pietro Pellegri has seen his career dominated by injuries, but it really was a freak occurrence that saw him from the kick-off in the game with Bologna.

The 21-year-old was for the first time in his entire career participating in a fourth consecutive match.

It didn’t last long, as Pellegri ran forward from the kick-off and slipped badly on the Stadio Dall’Ara turf, spraining his ankle.

This was only three seconds into the game, so evidently some sort of record for the quickest injury in a Serie A fixture.

He tried to get treatment and hobble back on before giving up and limping off in a fury at the third minute.

Pellegri was the first player born in the 21st Century to score a Serie A goal, and the youngest ever to bag a brace in the Italian top flight in 2017-18 at the age of 16 years and 184 days for Genoa.

However, after his sale to AS Monaco for €21m in January 2018, it all went wrong with numerous injuries, which continued in loan spells at Milan and Torino.

The forward was eventually sold to Toro for €5m this summer.
