Torinio are nearing an official agreement to bring free agent Roberto Pereyra to the club for the 2023-24 season according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio on Friday evening.

The 32-year-old midfielder is available on a free after the expiry of his contract with Udinese at the end of the 2022-23 campaign, bringing an end to a three-year stay and his second spell with the club.

According to Di Marzio’s reports, Pereyra has already given his personal approval to the move and has decided to hold off on leaving for Turkey, where he has a proposal from Besiktas.

Plenty of other teams in Italy had also been evaluating the possibility of signing the Argentine, with Inter and Milan both said to be interested in previous reports.

Pereyra intends to stay on in Serie A, having already spent eight of his 15 years in professional football in Italy between spells with Udinese and Juventus. He has also previously turned out for Watford in the Premier League and River Plate, where he made his debut.

Coach Ivan Juric is said to be a key component in convincing Pereyra to sign for Torino.
