According to reports in Italy, Sandro Tonali will captain Italy U21 during today’s match against Luxemburg.

The Azzurrini face Luxemburg at Empoli‘s Stadio Castellani today in a U21 Euro Qualifier.

It kicks off at 17.30 local time, 16.30 in the UK.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport and Calciomercato.com, Tonali will start the game wearing the captain armband.

The Milan midfielder scored his first goal with the Rossoneri last week in their 4-1 win over Cagliari.

Tonali has seven appearances with the U21 squad and four with the Azzurri’s senior team. He made his senior under Roberto Mancini in October 2019.

After a one-year loan spell at San Siro, the 21-year-old joined Milan on a permanent deal in the summer.
