Fikayo Tomori insists he is in sync with Milan and acknowledges that the Rossoneri can achieve ‘something extraordinary’ this season.

The English centre-back had joined the Diavoli on loan from Chelsea in January 2021 and Milan made his move permanent in the summer. He is one of the best performers this season with Milan on top of the Serie A table. The Rossoneri lost three of their four league matches this season when the England international was not available.

“We are a young team with some experienced players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Olivier Giroud, Simon Kajer and Mike Maignan, who has won something,” he told Sportmediaset speaking in perfect Italian.

“We are excited to play for Milan and to win something. We can do something extraordinary this season and I want to win.”

Does he aim to become the best defender in Serie A?

“I don’t know, I hope so, but this is my job, every day. I want to improve in every training session and in every game. To me, the most important thing is to see Milan win,” he said.

“Players like Maldini, Stam, Nesta and Baresi were great defenders. I have a strong bond with this club and that’s why I decided to join Milan.

“I am happy here even if I know that not many Engush players have worn this jersey.”

Tomori also opened up about the racist abuse he received in Milan’s away match at Cagliari. “The coach and my teammates immediately helped me after the game. We need to fight racism,” the former Chelsea defender said.

The former Chelsea defender has played 31 games this season, scoring one goal. Milan haven’t conceded in the last three Serie A games and host Bologna at the Stadio Meazza on Monday night. The 24-year-old’s contract at San Siro expires in June 2025.
