Bologna coach Thiago Motta underlined how Milan ‘always start very strong’ ahead of their coming Serie A clash.

The Rossoblu have shined under the Italian-Brazilian coach this term, putting themselves in the thick of the race for a top four finish, sitting just two points behind fourth place Fiorentina. Form has dropped a little in recent weeks, with Bologna picking up just a point in their last three games.

Milan secured a 2-0 win over Bologna in their opening match of the season, and they’ll be keen to secure all three points again as they look to try and keep up with Scudetto hopefuls Inter and Juventus at the top of the Serie A table.

Speaking in a press conference via TMW, Thiago Motta was first asked how the last fortnight has been for Bologna.

“We are fine and preparing well, as always. We’ll try to do well in the next match, against an important opponent.”

He spoke about the club’s work in the January transfer window and the arrival of new signing Mihajlo Ilic.

“The market is not my responsibility. Ilic has arrived and is training with us, we have done some physical tests on the team, and we have seen that he is slightly further behind than the others, but he certainly has great potential.”

The Bologna coach reflected on the team’s first meeting with the Rossoneri this season and what it’ll take to win this time.

“Of all those played, the first match against Milan is one of the few in which I didn’t have the feeling of being able to win. They’re one of the candidates for the Scudetto, they always start very strong…

“On Saturday we will have to try to impose our game, trying to be determined about what we will propose.”

Finally, Thiago Motta discussed his squad choices for the clash with Milan.

“The lack of Posch will not affect my choices. De Silvestri and Corazza are fine. As always, we will choose the team that we think will be the best one to face this challenge. Their left wing is very strong, we will try to limit them.”
