“I’m fine, I came back with a great desire to start again. We rested for a few days and now we’re back to work,” Hernandez told Milan TV.

“There’s a good feeling. I’m happy to see my teammates, the coach and Paolo Maldini again. I really want to start the championship.

“After three weeks of rest, it’s not going to be easy, but the truth is that we are fine and we are working step by step to regain our best shape.”

Milan had a great second half of the campaign and finished on an unbeaten run of 12 Serie A matches after the lockdown.

Stefano Pioli has been confirmed until June 2022 after helping Milan climb to sixth in the League and Theo wants to do improve further in 2020-21.

“It was a good season, but the most important thing is to continue working. A new season begins and we hope to do better,” he added.

“We are starting a new season with new challenges. We want to arrive as high as possible in the table and that’s what we will do.”

The 22-year-old arrived from Real Madrid last summer and has settled in Milan.

“I’m happy and content. I have to continue to work. I’m happy with my teammates and happy to be here,” he said. “I’m happy with the support of the fans, they are very important.

“I had a good season with several goals and assists and I think the new season will be equally positive. We’ll see what happens.

“I thank the fans, they are always with us, they support us. I hope to celebrate with them soon at San Siro.”
