Milan will have to do without left-back Theo Hernandez when they face Juventus on October 22 at San Siro.

The France international picked up a yellow card for crashing through the back of Morten Frendrup during this evening’s trip to Genoa.

It activated the automatic one-match ban for an accumulation of bookings, so he will be suspended for that showdown.

That was not the best way to celebrate his 26th birthday, which was yesterday.

This will be a particularly worrying development for Stefano Pioli, seeing as Theo Hernandez’s natural replacement Pierre Kalulu is still out injured.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Rade Krunic, Ismael Bennacer and Mattia Caldara will also still likely be out after the break for international duty.

An alternative would be Alessandro Florenzi, who can play on the right or the left side of defence.

So far this season, Theo Hernandez has made eight competitive appearances, scoring one goal in the 4-1 victory over Torino.
