Milan will reward French full back Theo Hernandez with a hefty raise in his new contract with the club.

The 24-year-old Frenchman is one of the key players in coach Stefano Pioli’s squad and he wants to keep the promise he made to Paolo Maldini, that he would become a historical figure for the Rossoneri.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Milan are working on offering Hernandez a new contract that will see his salary raise from €1.5m to €4m, which can raise to €5m net if the attached add-ons are reached. The club are still deciding whether the new deal will expire in 2026 or 2027.

The Rossoneri hope to have ironed out all the relevant details before the end of the month, ready to reward the Frenchman for his loyalty and quality. They also appreciate the fact that he didn’t quickly demand a raise and instead waited patiently, understanding the tough economic circumstances.

The 24-year-old Hernandez has made 22 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1813 minutes. In that time, he has scored four goals and provided five assists.

  1. There are proper gentlemen like Theo and Tonali and Calabria and Tomori …… and then there are others like Donnarumma and Calhanoglu and Kessie who play for AC EURO (€) ……

  2. Welcome news. Needs to happen more often though. We lost about 200 million in transfer fees between Calhanoglu, Donnarumma and Kessie recently. If anyone can explain how that makes financial sense for the club or the vulture fund that own it, I’d love to hear it.

  3. @DB Milan, it is welcomed news but there is no way on gods green earth those 3 are valued at about 200m combined. Donnarumma 60-70, Kessie 30-35 at best and the turkish lad was going to Newcastle at this point last year for around 20m.

Its more of a stance from the club than financial sense. There is noone bigger than any club. As we saw the Donnarumma was replaced with someone just as good and only a few years older where one will argue that we would save money on the difference between wages and Raiolas cut. The turkish lad was replaced with someone alot younger and with arguably a better impact on games up until he caught covid.

Im sure Kessie can be replaced also.#!

  4. He really stepped up his game after wearing the captains armband in the last two matches, which means he cares. He showed that he’s becoming a mature and responsible player, and a true Rossonero. We’re gonna be fine with players like him and Tonali in our team. Let the likes of Dollarumma and Kessié leave the club, preferably as soon as possible.

    Forza Theo!

  5. @Milan Fan Its just an approximation of what the 3 players could have been worth if contracts were not allowed to run down, not a definite number.

  6. @ DB Milan The played refused to sign. What were we going to do?

The key thing is not some silly game of fantasy football, it’s what happening on the pitch. We’re second. What are you complaining about?

    It’s sport, not business.

  7. @Rob99 Yeah the 200 was just an approximation, as I said. Maybe it would be 100 or 150, either way its a lot of lost revenue. I prefer both Diaz and Maignan to the players they replaced but as much as the club is bigger than anyone, the club also needs money to continue growing. If we keep doing this, we’ll need a charity to take over from the vulture fund.

@MaldinIs heir Can you not understand what I am complaining about? That we are 2nd? Of course not. If you read more carefully you would see I complained about losing valuable players for nothing. Players that could have been signed up earlier. Selling them then gives more money to invest in the team, that’s how football works.

Its not fantasy, it is however, very much a business that involves sport. If you are so naive you haven’t figured that out, I don’t know what else I can tell you.
