Milan are hungry for their first Scudetto in a decade and the statistics confirm their growth under Stefano Pioli.

The Rossoneri currently sit top of the Serie A table after 29 games, three points ahead of 2nd place Napoli and four ahead of 3rd place Inter, who have a game in hand. Pioli and sporting director Paolo Maldini have managed to consistently improve the Milanese club over the last few years, building them to return to the top.

As highlighted by Sky Sports Italia, Milan are the best in Serie A in terms of reliability, head to head encounters and average points away from home. Pioli’s side sit 3rd for both average points picked up at home and the effectiveness of their attack. They top the list for points secured from an advantageous position.

Milan’s defence sees them sit 4th and their shots 5th. The Rossoneri rank significantly lower for ball possession, sitting 7th out of all Serie A teams, and average kilometres ran, being 12th. This suggests that the team have a good ability to grind out positive results and are efficient when on the ball.

  1. Grazie. Also:

1st in the league for WINS – 19
1st in the Top 7 league (Top 7 playing against each other)
1st of the TOP 7 with least amount of Draws – 6
2nd in the AWAY league table by 1 pt (but played 1 game less than top Napoli)
    2nd in terms of SAVE % (Mike 43.5% to Ospina’s 44%)
3rd in clean sheets with Mike x 10. (2 CS off the top (Handanovic with 12) despite playing 5 games less.

  2. All’s not rosy with Milan. We’ve been grinding out too many results lately. Gives the match fixing thieves of Inter and Juventus a chance to take points away from us. We need to win by bigger margins

  3. Need more potency up front though. Goals shouldn’t be coming from defenders. We need a reliable AM and a beefed up Right flank.
