Igli Tare reveals Lazio spoke to Max Allegri and Roberto Donadoni about becoming Coach in 2014.

The Biancocelesti were looking for a new man on the bench after Edy Reja’s caretaker spell, and ultimately opted for Stefano Pioli.

However, the club’s sporting director reveals they attempted to get Allegri before he took over at Juventus.

“Roberto Donadoni? We were on the verge of taking him to Lazio two years ago,” Tare explained to Corriere di Bologna.

“Roberto Donadoni? We were on the verge of taking him to Lazio two years ago,” Tare explained to Corriere di Bologna.

“We talked a lot with him, he’s a man of few words but he’s very solid. He made a good impression, but then we moved on to others.

“To tell you the truth we also spoke to Allegri, who I think is the best Italian Coach, but then we opted for Pioli, who fit with our style of play.”
