Sporting director Igli Tare has called for Lazio “to remain humble” and focus on “qualifying for the Champions League”.

Lazio are currently third in Serie A, six points behind the top two Juventus and Inter, but Tare didn’t want to talk about the Biancoceleste pushing for the Scudetto this term.

“We’re only halfway there,” Tare told Corriere dello Sport. “We have won many battles, but we will have to win the war.

“The talk about the Scudetto doesn’t concern us, our goal has always been to qualify for the Champions League.”

Lazio have won nine games on the bounce and are on a run of 12 games unbeaten in the League, but the sporting director doesn’t get carried away.

“Dreaming is beautiful, but I am a professional and I walk with my feet on the ground,” he added. “We must remain humble, focused and always aware of being a great team. Then, if we were to fight for something else during the last few days of the campaign, we won’t hold anything back.”

Lazio host Napoli on Saturday and a win over the Partenopei would be another statement, according to the 46-year-old.

“If we win, it would be clear that we beat another great opponent, but above all, it would give continuity to this record of consecutive wins.”
