Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny isn’t fazed by Young Boys’ synthetic pitch – “you’d play these great Champions League evenings on sand”.

The Swiss champions have a synthetic surface, and Bianconeri captain Giorgio Chiellini won’t play on it for fear of injury.

“It changes things a little, because it’s always faster on a synthetic pitch,” Szczesny said, sitting alongside Max Allegri in the pre-match Press conference.

“It changes things a little, because it’s always faster on a synthetic pitch,” Szczesny said, sitting alongside Max Allegri in the pre-match Press conference.

“But you’d play these great Champions League evenings on sand, so it doesn’t make much difference.

“We expect a difficult game against a team that has created a lot at home. We’ll therefore need to be attentive in defence.

“Finishing top is crucial, we’ve deserved it up to now and we need to confirm it tomorrow. Then we can await the draw with more tranquility.”

Szczesny made a stunning save in the last Champions League game, somehow getting a hand to Mouctar Diakhaby’s header from a Valencia corner.

“It was an important save in an important moment, but that’s what I have to do. I go onto the pitch to make that kind of save.

“Sometimes I can’t, but when I do it’s always a nice moment.”
