Szczesny had originally been in the starting XI, but suffered a muscular issue in the warm-up and is replaced by Mattia Perin.

“Sampdoria are a strong side, we must keep the utmost focus in order to earn all three points,” the goalkeeper told Sky Sport Italia and JTV.

“Quagliarella is an excellent striker who is very prolific, so we need to be wary of him. Samp are in great shape at the moment, but we have prepared well to bring home the victory.”

Szczesny was asked about the controversy over Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly suffering racist abuse by Inter fans and the debate over whether games ought to be stopped.

“It’s not up to me to say whether we should halt play if there are racist chants. All I can say is that there is no room for racism in football. We are all brothers with Koulibaly and wish him the best.”
