Milan full-back Lorenzo Florenzi was operated on the meniscus of the left knee today and will be out for a month.

The former Roma captain could therefore miss the match against his the Giallorossi, as he underwent arthroscopic surgery at the Villa Stuart clinic in the Italian capital.

The operation was perfectly successful and the Rossoneri confirmed he will be out for 30 days.

“AC Milan announce that Alessandro Florenzi was operated on by Professor Pier Paolo Mariani in the presence of the Rossoneri team doctor Lucio Genesio at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome,” the club said in a statemend.

“The operation, performed under arthroscopy to resolve a partial injury of the medial meniscus on the left knee, was perfectly successful. The recovery times are estimated to be 30 days.”

Florenzi joined Milan on loan with an option to buy last summer, as the right-back returned to Serie A after one season with Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1.

The 30-year-old, who graduated from the Roma academy, spent the second half of 2019-20 on loan at Valencia in Spain and had spent time at Crotone before re-joining the Giallorossi in July 2012.

Florenzi has played seven times since joining Milan, but will be out until November and thus miss the Serie A games against Atalanta, Verona, Bologna, Torino and Roma.

He could be out for both games against FC Porto in the Champions League too, while he will definitely miss Italy’s UEFA Nations League match against Spain on October 6.
