Roma’s Kevin Strootman insists he is happy at the club despite reports linking him with a move away.

The 28-year-old still has four years of contract remaining at the Giallorossi, but Gazzetta dello Sport reported this morning that the Dutch international could be sold as the Stadio Olimpico club look to balance the books due to Financial Fair Play regulations.

However, pressed on the matter following this evening’s 1-1 draw between Italy and the Netherlands at Juventus Stadium, the midfielder refused to comment.

“I am only going to talk about the national team. I have a contract and I haven’t signed for anyone else,” Strootman said.

“I am happy at Roma and that’s enough.”

The former PSV Eindhoven man believes there are similarities between the predicaments of Italy and the Netherlands, with neither nation on the way to this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

“Like us, they need time. They have a lot of quality.

“Against France and today they seemed fatigued. Now we have the holidays, then we need to push to get back to our level.

“We are in the same position now.”
