Former Roma doctor Mario Brozzi said last week that the Dutchman may never recover from the Cyclops Syndrome which arose from complications after cruciate ligament surgery.

However, the 25-year-old insists he’ll be back for the start of the Giallorossi’s pre-season.

“Contrary to reports in the media I am back in training and working hard on my comeback,” Strootman wrote on his official Twitter profile.

“Please don't believe people who have never seen me in their lives, just follow the social pages of me and AS Roma where we will keep you updated on my progress.

“Just for the record, I'm right on schedule to be back when preseason starts.”
