However, the former Inter Coach insists he and the controlling Pozzo family were already aware this would be a season rebuilding.

“It’s normal for a young team to have difficult moments, and that’s not only true for Udinese,” Stramaccioni explained, speaking to Sky.
“Lately, however, we’ve found the consistency of last season. Safety isn’t mathematically assured, but we have 33 points and a game in hand.
“We have everything we need for a good end to the season.
“The Pozzos? They were clear with me from the start, this is year zero after a good cycle. We’re working together to build a new cycle.
“I’m proud to be Coach here, I’m happy here and I have another year on my contract. This is a different job from that in Milan [with Inter], here I’m working with players who can make a real leap in quality.”
