The future of Coach Rafa Benitez is still up in the air, but Trapattoni says that won’t affect the players.

“Trust me, I’ve been in these situations,” the former Juventus Coach told Il Mattino.

“When you’re going onto the pitch and fighting for big objectives, the future of whoever is on the bench is the last thing in the players’ minds.

“It will be evolution, not revolution in the event that the Spaniard leaves. The characters may change, but not the project.”

The Neapolitans face a real battle for Champions League qualification next season, but can qualify through Serie A or the Europa League.

While Trapattoni thinks the latter will present a big challenge, he’s not convinced Lazio can last the pace.

“Napoli are still fighting on three fronts [Serie A, Europa League and Coppa Italia], and have done well to keep going.

“I think they’re a team particularly suited to cup competitions. They’re almost there in terms of the Coppa Italia final, but they have a bit more to do in the Europa League and Wolfsburg will be very difficult to deal with.

“That said, if they were to go through against the Germans it would pave the way to make it to a big final.

“As for third place, I don’t know if Lazio will have the strength to keep up this pace until the end.”
