Luciano Spalletti says Wojciech Szczesny will compete with Alisson if he returns to Roma.
The Polish goalkeeper spent last year on loan with the Giallorossi, and is expected to once again join from Arsenal this summer.
“That’s how it must be,” Spalletti told Sky when asked about competition.
“The great teams must have starters who sit some games out.
“Nacho? We must complete the defence, and at the same time we must be alert and ready.”

Spalletti was also asked about Juventus’ Paul Pogba, who is linked with a world record move to Manchester United.
“At the figures being mentioned, selling him is an obligation. He’s a very strong player and will need to be replaced, but in the face of this possibility the best solution must be found.
“Gonzalo Higuain? The same. If the money comes in, from my point of view he can be sold. Pipita is possibly the best striker in the world and would be a major loss, but the big teams are always ready to replace champions.
“In a market like this it’s hard to hold a player back if they want to leave, it’s likely to limit their performance.”
