New details are emerging after the Coach spoke to the Press yesterday, during an event with the fashion brand D'Acquasparta.

The Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting a full interview which goes into substantially greater detail, and in which the Coach sounds a little less certain about Radja Nainggolan's future.

“Pjanic is a smart kid, and an honest one,” Spalletti told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “He responded as a champion, even when I started him from the bench. Unfortunately when certain things are written in a contract, you can't go back on them. Everybody acted in a correct manner.

“Pjanic called me to let me know about his decision before it all became official. I appreciated that. What I can't accept are the attacks on the player and his family. Pjanic, at this point, is the past.

“My objective is that of building a strong team, even at the club level. We must all be united, and not shoot on each other.”

Nevertheless Spalletti had to admit that Juventus were now on a different level compared to Roma.

“It's true. In terms of absolute value we are not on a par with the Bianconeri. But I'm not the type to think the neighbour's grass is greener. And Roma have the duty to challenge the predominance of [Max] Allegri's team.

“We must take [Antonio] Conte's Italy as an example. Belgium was stronger, and yet the Azzurri won. And I'm warning my players, I'll be wringing their neck from day one. We must all give something extra.”

The Coach then discussed the transfer market.

“After [Antonio] Rudiger's injury, we certainly have to work on the defence. For the moment, all I have is [Kostas] Manolas.

“But this is something than an extraordinary transfer guru like [Walter] Sabatini knows very well, and he's already working on it. We must be ready to act on that.

“I think [Radja] Nainggolan will stay with us. But we must be ready for everything.”
