Speaking at a Press conference for Inter’s upcoming friendlies against Bayern Munich and Chelsea, Spalletti also discussed the Nerazzurri’s “big ambitions” next season, claimed there had been no bids for Antonio Candreva and made it clear his side were not fazed by both League champions.

“Like in everything, it’s crucial that we create a better life for ourselves than the previous one,” began the Coach.

“There were some problems last season, so we want to be a real team. After that, we must take care of the table. It’s a crucial aspect, of course.

“Objectives for next season? To get into the top four, even if there are three, other very good teams [referring to Juventus, Roma and Napoli].

“If each of them didn’t drop off again, our distance with them would remain important. Still, we have no choice: we’re the Inter and we must have big ambitions.

“The rumours about Perisic? I think they’re normal, we have top players, but he has a contract in force and must honour it.

“After that, if a satisfactory bid arrives, the discourse would change and we could evaluate it. For now, however, the right offer hasn’t come in yet.

“I still have to get to know a few of the lads, but this is normal. We’re talking about top players that have to make a leap in quality together.

“We’re Inter and it’s normal that there’s pressure at a club like ours. We need to get used to and it live with the balance of victories and defeats.

“Candreva? There’s been no offer for him. Can Jovetic stay? Some play can’t stimulate themselves: either they play or disagree with playing for their place.

“They want to be guaranteed a certain number of games, but I can’t do this. Therefore, it’s best to speak clearly right away so problems can be avoided.

“There are also tactical considerations to make: 4-2-3-1 is the best formation for me, but alternatives are also needed.

“We’ll think of so many things, including a three-man defence, which we’ll also try out over the next, few days.

“Bayern? We’ll play to beat them, like always and in any case, regardless of the names of our opponents.

“Bayern Munich and Chelsea both have no weaknesses and are strong, but I expect an Inter side that can aim to do well. These teams must be in our sights.

“Conte’s praise? He’s strong and a winner, so I’m happy that he’s expressed certain ideas about me. There’s a mutual esteem, and I saw [Chelsea] play well against the Germans.

“Antonio is a Coach in trend, he’s managed to win a title at Chelsea with three at the back, in a League where playing with four was almost a rule.”
