“Napoli are the best team in the League in terms of style of play,” Spalletti told reporters in his pre-match Press conference.

“They’re the most talented, along with some other teams. They, in terms of the way they move on the pitch, have balance they know what they want to do and  they’re the best in terms of being complete in both attack and defence.

“Their Coach [Sarri] has shown what he’s capable of. If you ask me, I’m glad to congratulate him, he’s made a contribution to football and he’s done good things.

“He’s admired by players and Coaches, they pay compliments to him all the time.

“Napoli are strong, even if there are others who play good football likes Sassuolo and Chievo. These are teams that look for the maximum in every match, they never give an inch and never allow their level to drop.

“We’ve seen that’s how Napoli are, whereas we haven’t been up to it in some games. So we have to play to our best and if we do that I don’t think we’re inferior.

“There’s not much between the teams, we’re on a similar level and they have a point more than us.

“We want to face the game as we did last year where they didn’t deserve to lose but it was a match befitting two great teams, who are spectacular on the pitch.

“These matches are the occasions that I’m in this job for, and we’ll go there aiming to win the game even though it’s difficult because they’re strong.”

Tensions between the two sets of fans have been out of control in recent years, with a Roma Ultra murdering Napoli fan Ciro Esposito before the 2014 Coppa Italia final.

As a safety measure, no away fans will be allowed inside San Paolo tomorrow, and Spalletti was asked for his view.

“When a rule is implemented and such a clear position is taken you have to look at it in depth to see the reasons.

“I don’t have the means to assess whether they’ve taken the correct stance or not. I think in general the fences and barriers gives you more encouragement to jump over and see what’s outside of that.

“It’s clear though if this calls safety into question or creates problems for another person then no-one has the right to do it. Those who have these intentions should be limited.

“We all need to contribute to create an environment where people can express their sporting passions based on the colours they love in a fair way, with the ability to respect the passions and desires of others.

“An individual must be free to express themselves without hurting those around them.”
