Juventus Coach Massimiliano Allegri lauds his Roma counterpart, Luciano Spalletti – “he’s done a great job”.

Spalletti replaced Rudi Garcia midway through last season, and his Giallorossi are the main challengers to the Bianconeri this term.

“Spalletti has done a great job from his arrival last season up until now,” Allegri said ahead of their meeting tomorrow.

“He has changed Roma, and above all the mentality has changed. Just the fact that Roma concede less means that something has changed.

“Then they have very good players, [Edin] Dzeko is playing at an optimal level. Tomorrow will be a good, balanced game; it should be a great evening of sport between two title contenders.”

Juve President Andrea Agnelli declared that everyone was against the club, but Allegri was more conciliatory.

“Juve are running our own race. Juve play game-by-game the way we always have, trying to get the wins which will bring the points which will in turn bring the title.

“It’s normal that Juventus have a lot of enemies, tomorrow our number one enemy is Roma.

“Then in the next game we’ll play Bologna, then there will come Fiorentina, Lazio… every team in the Italian League is an enemy of Juventus, more so those who fight with us for the title.

“I think it’s normal, part of the game. In the end it’s normal that Juventus fight against everyone to take home the title.”

The Coach was then asked if he expected some “Christmas presents” in the form of new signings ahead of the Porto match in the Champions League.

“I wrote my letter to Santa, let’s see what it brings me…” Allegri smiled.

“It depends if I was good or not. The draw might look good on paper, but Porto are a club who are used to playing in the Champions League, they’re used to being in the international arena.

“They surprised people by eliminating Roma, and in the Last 16 two years ago they beat Bayern 3-1, so it’s definitely not easy, especially given the history of Porto in Europe.

“That’s something to keep in mind.”
