September’s Euro 2024 qualifiers include some key clashes and these Spain vs. Cyprus predictions look at the latest picture in Group A. Luis de la Fuente’s La Roja are playing catch up in their bid to reach the finals next summer.

Spain vs. Cyprus odds

1 – Spain to win – 1/25

2 – Spain over 2.5 total goals – 4/11

3 – Total goals scored over 2.5 – 2/7

4 – Both teams not to score – 1/4

5 – Spain to win 3-0 – 4/1

Spain boss Luis de la Fuente faces a tricky task to get his team back on track in their push to secure an automatic qualifying place at Euro 2024 next summer. The campaign started with a 3-0 home win over an Erling Haaland-less Norway before losing 2-0 away in Scotland.

Steve Clarke’s Scotland have powered on from that result and are now in a very strong position to qualify from Group A, with Spain finding themselves battling with Norway to avoid an embarrassing qualification slip-up.

De la Fuente will still be confident of having enough to get over the qualification line, with their triumph in the UEFA Nations League final series in June giving them games in hand in this qualifying competition.

Minnows Cyprus are on course to finish bottom of Group A and Spain are overwhelming favourites to cruise to a routine win in Granada.

With Spain playing home games across the country, it is difficult to place ‘home’ form, but they have scored four goals in two matches in Spain inside the last 12 months. In comparison, Cyprus have scored just once away from home in competitive action since the start of 2023, and it came as an added time consolation goal in a 3-1 loss in Oslo.

Despite not really hitting their stride so far in qualification, Spain have a consistent record of both qualifying and sidestepping lower-ranked teams, with their last meeting with Cyprus ending in an 8-0 win in Badajoz in 1999.

Three points on the board and a strong attacking performance will be exactly what de la Fuente wants at the end of this tie, as he looks ahead to October clashes with Scotland and Norway.

Spain team news

De la Fuente has the majority of his key stars available for the September window of qualifying matches, with Barcelona’s Pedri the most eye-catching absentee due to injury. His Blaugrana teammates Alejandro Balde and Gavi should start in this vital clash.

Cyprus team news

Salernitana midfielder Grigoris Kastanos is the star name in the Cyprus line-up. The visitors will look to go with a defensively minded 5-4-1 formation in Granada, as they aim to frustrate Spain and force the home team to break them down.
