Following reports last night that the Diavolo were closing-in on the Sampdoria midfielder, Gazzetta dello Sport is today reporting that the deal is down to the final details.

Soriano is ready to sign a five-year deal with Milan, and is keen to reunite with former Samp boss Sinisa Mihajlovic, while the clubs are working out the structure of the €10m fee.

However, President Silvio Berlusconi has warned that if the Italian international arrives, another midfielder will have to leave.

“To get a midfielder, we’ll have to convince someone else to leave,” Gazzetta quotes the patron as saying.

“We have a good squad of 25 players, and everyone is happy. The hardest thing is to give someone away.”

While Gazzetta believes Antonio Nocerino or a loan deal for Jose Mauri are the most likely solutions, Calciomercato is linking Riccardo Montolivo with a San Siro exit.

Mihajlovic bluntly stated after the Coppa Italia win over Perugia that Nigel De Jong 'is a lot better’ than Montolivo at the moment, casting doubt over whether the playmaker features in his plans.

The 30-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season, so Calciomercato believes the Rossoneri may try to cash in now or in January, rather than have the player sit on the bench for a season before leaving for free.
