Several reports in Italy claim Roma and Manchester United have reached a late agreement for the transfer of Chris Smalling but the registration of his contract has yet not been confirmed by the Lega Calcio.

Sky Sport and La Gazzetta dello Sport claim the Giallorossi have agreed to sign the England International for €15m with the player who has signed a four-year deal and is ready to fly to Rome.

The website of the Lega Calcio however, still doesn’t show the contract of Smalling among those that have been registered before the deadline at 8 pm in Italy.

Roma sources quoted by Sky claim all the documentation needed was sent to the Lega Calcio before 8 pm and that they are confident that the deal will soon be confirmed.

Smalling's entourage also confirm that the player's move to Roma is not in doubt and that the player will take his first traning session with Roma tomorrow.
