Milan Skriniar has laughed off becoming Inter’s next captain so early into his Nerazzurri career. ‘I’m still a nobody here!’

Skriniar wasted no time in repaying Inter’s €28m investment last summer, appearing in all 38 of their Serie A games over the past season to help the Nerazzurri qualify for the Champions League.

“Everyone talked about the value of my transfer last summer,” the former Sampdoria defender told Premium Sport.

“Everyone talked about the value of my transfer last summer,” the former Sampdoria defender told Premium Sport.

“I’ve had a good season and I’m happy about that. In football, everything changes in a year.

“Will I stay at Inter to play in the Champions League? This is my objective and I’m glad we reached it in our last game against Lazio.

“We must prepare ourselves better for next season and especially for the Champions League.

“So many fans? I’m very happy, the reception I received at the airport is something I’ve never seen before in my life.

“Everyone’s close to us and I’m very happy about that. Renewal and then become captain? I’m still a nobody here so it’s hard to say!

“Icardi? I can’t speak for him, he must be free to make his own decision, but I know he’s very happy here, he’s our top scorer and I think he’ll stay with us.

“De Vrij? He’s a very good player and I’m convinced he’ll give us a big hand.”
