Milan Skriniar warns he is out to ‘stop’ Milan’s momentous run of form as Inter have “no more time for fooling around.”

Milan are unbeaten in their last 13 games under Gennaro Gattuso and began their revival with a 1-0 win against Inter in the Coppa Italia at the end of December, but Skriniar believes the tables must turn on Sunday.

“We want to stop Milan’s run,” the defender told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We gave them their confidence back in the Coppa Italia. Now it must be us who start over.

“Our opponents are full of confidence and in an excellent run of form. Gattuso’s done well, they help each other and fight for every ball.

“If I could, I’d take Suso out of the Rossoneri. He’s their key player. Cutrone? He’s strong, young and motivated.

“He only needs a few touches to score, so we’ll need to be really focused on him. Winning on Sunday alone won’t be enough.

“Spalletti tells us every day: we have to do better and give even more, both as a team and individually.

“We come from a very long crisis in form, which I can’t explain. We’re training well, yet we haven’t played in an appropriate way,

“Split dressing room? It’s not true, ours is obviously a psychological problem. We play in fits and spurts but don’t stay focused for the entire game.

“This is where we need to improve. Now there’s no more room for error. It’s time to go back to show how good we are.

“The derby man? Icardi. In the first game, he hit the target three times. We’ve missed his goals in this early part of 2018.

“This is the weekend of truth, the schedule will throw up some important games, so we have to make sure we’re ready for them.

Lazio, Inter, Roma and Milan: the race [for top four] is long and balanced. We also mustn’t forget Samp, who are strong and don’t give up.

“The fans? They’re magnificent, I’d say unique. Their contribution has never been in question, even when it’s been really bad.

“A good performance on its own won’t count for anything on Sunday. I want the three points. There’s no more time for fooling around.

“After Milan, we’ll face Napoli. We need big wins against teams like these so we can say we’ve emerged from an unbearable crisis.”
