“We wanted to return to the Champions League and we succeed,” Skriniar said in a Press conference from the Slovakia training camp.

“Now we’ll try to get through the group, although ours will be a very hard one.

“We all know about Barcelona, they’re big favourites, but there’s also Tottenham who have played in the Champions League for years and didn’t change anything in the transfer window that just closed.

“The fact we’re hosting them immediately could be a disadvantage for us, but doing well on our debut would be an excellent sign for the whole competition.

“On a personal level, I can’t wait to challenge Messi in Europe and Ronaldo in Italy. The arrival of the Portuguese in Serie A is, without doubt, a boost for all of Italian football because the eyes of the world will be on our competition.”
