Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ long-term future in the Italian capital is in doubt after failing to convince for Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

The 24-year-old English full back joined the Giallorossi on a six-month dry loan deal back in January in a bid for more game time, but he’s found his opportunities limited under the Portuguese coach. He has not featured in the Roman side’s last four league outings and his last appearance came over a month ago in a 2-2 draw against Hellas Verona.

As reported by Siamo La Roma, Maitland-Niles has failed to convince Roma following his mid-season move and he seems destined to return to Arsenal at the end of the season, with no permanent deal in sight.

Things look a little grim for the 24-year-old Englishman, who left North London after falling down Mikel Arteta’s pecking order. He’ll be hoping for a few more opportunities to impress before this season draws to a close.
