Vincenzo Montella’s Sevilla are reportedly interested in signing Atalanta forward Josip Ilicic and Bologna attacker Simone Verdi.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Montella is in dire need of a right winger and No 10, explaining his lack of rotation is due to his squad players being incapable of adopting his style.

Consequently, the former Milan boss would have instructed sporting director Oscar Arias to pursue two Serie A players, one of whom is Ilicic.

Consequently, the former Milan boss would have instructed sporting director Oscar Arias to pursue two Serie A players, one of whom is Ilicic.

The newspaper cites Sportitalia’s Alfredo Pedulla by claiming the Champions League quarter-finalists are in ‘pole position’ to sign the Slovenian this summer.

Despite being 30 years of age, Ilicic has scored 14 goals and assisted nine for Atalanta, who paid Fiorentina just €5.5m for his services last summer.

Montella also knows the player well, having coached him in Tuscany for two seasons.

The other name, ED notes via Corriere di Bologna, is Verdi, who spent the first half of the 2015-16 campaign at Sevilla’s Liga rivals Eibar.

Since then, the 25-year-old has gone on to star for Bologna, break into the Italy squad and reject a move to Scudetto challengers Napoli.

However, neither Montella nor Arias have been confirmed for next season, with the latter admitting things were ‘a bit up in the air’ at the Sanchez Pizjuan.
