Pushed forward constantly in the first half and found a niche as a right winger. Yet when Roma pressured later in the game the Uruguayan was as usual totally reliable in defence. Unswerving.
Giorgio Chiellini [Juventus]
Never gave an inch to the Roma forwards, especially Erik Lamela. Forever alert and ready to halt any attacks that got as far as the back line. Started to cruise towards the end and oozed lion-hearted courage. Steadfast.
Hugo Campagnaro [Napoli]
Totally committed at the back, but still found the time and space to cause trouble further up the field. Has a marvellous engine and, coupled with his precise positioning and immaculate timing, helped Napoli keep another clean sheet. Dedicated.
Claudio Marchisio [Juventus]
Arguably Man of the Match and was always ready as an outlet when things got too busy in midfield. Consistently menaced the Roma defence and almost scored with an absolute peach of a drive against the bar. Fantastic.
Marek Hamsik [Napoli]
Another awe-inspiring performance from the Slovak, who never stopped running yet always had an end plan in mind. Split open the home defence on several occasions, one which earned the penalty for Edinson Cavani to score from. Breathtaking.

Ignited the action with his indescribable array of passing and directed the play with almost unhindered freedom. Scored as well with a powerful free-kick that beat Maarten Stekelenburg with its speed and accuracy. Discriminating.

The Brazilian opened the scoring by finding space at a corner to net with a well-taken header. Played right across the midfield, but most effective coming in from the left. Only on for an hour but showed what he can do. Inspiring.

Did everything but score and pushed the hosts right back into their own area, inviting defenders to go to him which left space for others to exploit. A Man of the Match performance with three wonderful assists. Stimulating.
Stephan El Shaarawy [Milan]
Put in another superb performance and absolutely tortured the Parma defence with his constant probing. Was quick to adapt to the new system and it paid off, getting into the perfect position to nutmeg the ‘keeper to score. Awesome.

Scored a hat-trick, laid on the other goal and could have scored two more. The 'Romario del Salento’ was absolutely outstanding, but outdone even his previous highs with his final goal – a perfectly placed volley from 41 metres. Supernatural.
