Started as he meant to go on, single-handedly winning the point with his awesome reflexes. Too many to list but pulled off miraculous saves from Marco Borriello’s powerful header, Antonio Floro Flores’ 20-yard strike and Andrea Bertolacci’s Exocet. Colossal.
Angelo Ogbonna [Torino]
Led the defence and was totally alert when any Chievo forwards made incursions into his zone of influence. Set up Alessio Cerci, who narrowly missed scoring, then on another excursion up field a minute later, earned the equalising penalty. Coordinated.
Giorgio Chiellini [Juventus” data-scaytid=”15″>Juventus]
The real beast of Juve and was always dominant with his technique, charisma and incredible fitness, that is sometimes overlooked. Ibarbo would not have passed him, period. Carnivorous.
Fabrizio Grillo [Siena]
Closed down Pablo Armero and Rolando but the highlight of his Serie A debut was his pearl of a goal. Finding space from a free-kick, he curled the ball into the far top corner with the outside of the boot. Captivating.
Juan Guillermo Cuadrado [Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”24″>Fiorentina]
Always on the front foot, he was forever screaming into the opposing box frightening defenders with his pace, power and dribbling. After one enterprising run he put in the perfect low cross for Luca Toni to convert the winner. Calculating.
Marek Hamsik [Napoli]
Only on for 30 minutes and with Napoli losing he changed the game. Set up Edinson Cavani for the equaliser then in Cavani-time burst into the box to chip the on-rushing ‘keeper from a tight angle for the winner. Charismatic.
Alessandro Diamanti [Bologna]
Man of the Match with all the visitors’ offensive action going through him. Absolutely took off in the second half and set up the second goal with an awesome pass for Davide Moscardelli. Comprehensive.
Antonio Candreva [Lazio” data-scaytid=”35″>Lazio]
Another masterful display and the inspiration behind the win with his corner setting up the opener. Kept probing and forcing the Samp defence backwards and in the final minute his cheekily chipped penalty took all the points. Celestial.
Pablo Barrientos [Catania]
Il Pitu was simply full of it and absolutely head and shoulders above anyone on the pitch. He tested Pescara’s ‘keeper on numerous occasions, with one curving corner-kick smacking into the post. Also set up some extremely close calls. Cultivated.
Victor Ibarbo [Cagliari” data-scaytid=”45″>Cagliari]
Absolutely flew past Andrea Barzagli on a couple of occasions, embarrassing him with one particularly intriguing Maradona-type trick flick. He scored the opener leaving Claudio Marchisio in his dust then dusted Barzagli again before giving Marco Storari little chance. Courageous.
Antonio Di Natale [Udinese” data-scaytid=”52″>Udinese]
Could not be stopped forcing the ‘keeper into a blinding save and hitting the bar inside the five minutes. Scored twice afterwards, the first a casual flicked finish, while his quicksilver reaction, helped him score his second and 175th goal. Compelling.
