As Juventus took a four point lead at the top, Marcello Cossali-Francis picks the best XI from Week 30.

Andrea Consigli [Sassuolo]

Made a few vital saves in a game that could have a big impact on this year’s title race. Twice denied Lorenzo Insigne from close range, the second a brilliant save from point-blank range when it looked for all certainty Insigne would score. Nothing he could do about Jose Callejon’s equaliser but ultimately earned his side an unlikely point.

Andrea Masiello [Atalanta]

Played a big role in the 2-0 victory over Udinese with a second-half goal that sealed all three points for Atalanta. Looked very comfortable on the ball and had a 91% pass success rate through the game and kept the Udinese attack quiet.

Emiliano Moretti [Torino]

The 36-year-old had a solid game for Torino in their 4-0 victory over Cagliari. Torino have not kept many clean sheets this season but Moretti’s influence was a positive one and he rarely looked troubled both on the ball and off it. Had 86% pass success rate through the game as well, which is what you want from your defence.

Diego Perotti [Roma]

Provided the all-important assist for Edin Dzeko for the equaliser in a game Roma could ill afford to lose. Made 7 successful dribbles throughout the game and his delivery from out wide and from corners were a constant threat for the Bologna defence.

Lucas Castro [Chievo]

Chievo were 1-0 down at half-time and Castro was instrumental in turning the game around for Chievo in the second-half. Firstly came up with the equaliser, a bullet-header at the far post with just under half-an-hour to play and then secondly, kept hold of the ball well before giving the ball to Perparim Hetemaj, who’s cross evaded everyone and went in.

Sami Khedira [Juventus]

Juventus were far from their best for the majority of the game against Milan, but the German played a big role in ensuring the Old Lady won. His pinpoint cross was converted by super-sub Juan Cuadrado to make it 2-1 in the 79th minute before Khedira himself went and sealed the victory with a low strike into the bottom corner. The best players do not always play well all 90 minutes but come up with the goods when they’re needed.

Riccardo Saponara [Fiorentina]

Played a big role in another win for La Viola against Crotone at the weekend. Found plenty of space between the Crotone midfield and defence and was constantly looking to create chances for others and could have had more assists if the finishing had been better. Linked up well with Chiesa all game and provided him with an assist for the second goal, which settled the match for Fiorentina.

Luis Alberto [Lazio]

The Spaniard continues to have the season of his career and he further added to his impressive stats with two assists and a goal in the thumping 6-2 win over Benevento. Provided Caicedo with a lovely flicked ball over the defence for the equaliser at 2-2, before his corner was headed home by De Vrij. Added some gloss to the score-line with a late penalty, which takes his goal tally to 8 for the season, with 11 assists.

Paulo Dybala [Juventus]

Seems to have responded to the disappointment of being left out of the most recent Argentina squad in the best possible way with a crucial performance against Milan. Was a threat all game long, even when Juventus were being outplayed by their rivals but his goal in the first few minutes was an example of his ability to shoot from outside the box with incredible accuracy. Added another assist to his tally when he did well to cut the ball back for Khedira’s goal.

Ciro Immobile [Lazio]

Seems to just keep scoring every single week and is well on his way to Capocannoniere. Another brace this week with a calm finish to make it 1-0 early on in the game and then another in the second-half when he capitalised on an error to, again, hold off defenders before slotting it past the keeper.

Ivan Perisic [Inter]

Whilst Mauro Icardi scored two, Perisic managed 2 assists and a goal to steal his position in this week’s team of the week. Was quick thinking early on to launch a throw in that put Icardi through on goal to open the scoring inside a minute before adding a goal himself. Brought down the ball from the air brilliantly before slamming it home off the post to make it 2-0. Another assist for Perisic when he drilled a cross a long the floor straight to Icardi at the far post, who couldn’t miss. Perfect display from the Croat.
