If not for his man of the match performance Bologna would have gone home pointless. Superbly pushing Allan’s pile-driver away to safety and if that wasn’t enough his blockbusting save from Antonio Di Natale’s penalty stole the show. Irrepressible.
Juan Cuadrado [Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”5″>Fiorentina]
Did not deserve to be on the losing side as he was a real dynamo down the right flank in both defence and attack. Scored the Viola’s only goal when he volleyed home from six yards out. Productive.
Davide Astori [Cagliari” data-scaytid=”9″>Cagliari]
A colossus in the centre of defence and never allowed Fiorentina any freeway through the middle. Always precise in his tackles and strode through the game with confidence. Immense.
Steve Von Bergen [Palermo]
A commanding performance in the middle as he kept the Roma forwards, especially Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, off balance throughout. Made two absolutely crucial interventions in the second half before another altercation with Osvaldo, when the Argentinean came off second best again. Impassable.
Senad Lulic [Lazio” data-scaytid=”19″>Lazio]
Another tireless performance, was always a problem for the opposition defence with his runs down the left and was very much part of Lazio’s pressing style in attack. Industrious.
Arturo Vidal [Juventus” data-scaytid=”23″>Juventus]
Never stopped working and bossed the midfield with his assured tackling and accomplished passing. Put in a great ball only for Leonardo Bonucci to miss the opportunity. Would have scored himself if not for Samir Handanovic’s superb save. Motivated.
Blerim Dzemaili [Napoli]
The Swiss rolled Torino over with a brilliant hat-trick and could have scored a fourth if not for their ‘keeper. He opened with an unstoppable thunderbolt, then a grass cutting screamer before signing off with a curving Exocet. Superb.
Antonio Candreva [Lazio]
A man of the match performance and everything good went through him. Also put in several perfect crosses that were not acted upon. However, he was eventually rewarded when he scored the vital winner with a textbook penalty. Inspirational.
Josip Ilicic [Palermo]
An ultra slick display from the Slovenian who cleverly confused the Roma defence by swapping roles with Fabrizio Miccoli. His skill saw him score the opener with a powerful angled drive then set up Miccoli with a precise cross. Sublime.
Fabio Quagliarella [Juventus]
Played a stormer and seized on to Alessandro’s Matri’s clever dummy to send an unstoppable screamer into the top of the net. In the second half he continued his excellent work when he repaid Matri by setting him up following a well executed cut-back. Powerful.
Mauricio Pinilla [Cagliari]
The Pistolero gunned down the opposition with two shots like Wyatt Earp at the OK Corral. His first saw him size up the ball and half-volley it into the net before he coolly converted a penalty. Deadly.
