Luca Cigarini says he would be happy to remain at Atalanta if the club opted to keep him on a permanent basis.

The playmaker belongs to Napoli, but he’s been playing his football in Bergamo since August 2011.

“I’m on loan from Napoli, but Atalanta do have the option to sign me outright,” the 26-year-old commented.

“If they decide to take up that option then I would be delighted to stay here.”

The Azzurri signed Cigarini in 2009 for €11m while he was part-owned by Atalanta and Parma.

However, after scoring twice in 28 League games for the club during 2009-10, he was loaned to Sevilla for the following campaign.

Cigarini has been called up by Italy boss Cesare Prandelli on two occasions, but he has yet to win his first cap.

The midfielder made his comeback in yesterday’s 0-0 draw with Sampdoria after a two-month injury lay-off.
