In only his eighth start, the 26-year-old Italian cemented his place further at San Siro with his command of his area. Made a couple of crucial saves including diving to beat a Rolando header off the line. Solid.

Luca Antonini [Genoa]
Put in an ultra-solid shift, won all his aerials and made two crucial tackles. He also scored the second after running on to a rebound and, looking to get forward, it was his assist for Sebastian De Maio’s equaliser at 3-3. Determined.
Mehdi Benatia [Roma]
Once again the supreme defender in all circumstances and led from the back while always pushing his teammates forward. Makes defending look easy because of his intelligent anticipation and his ability to close down any danger. Impassable.
Andre Dias [Lazio]
The veteran Brazilian needed all his experience and more and it never let him down as he kept a tight rein on Carlos Tevez, putting his foot in time and time again. Resolute.
Abdoulay Konko [Lazio]
Helped to make an unlucky 13 for Juventus with his running and was integral to the defensive solidity. It was his sublime pass that led to the penalty and he would have scored earlier if not for Gianluigi Buffon’s alertness. Focused.
Alessio Cerci [Torino]
The Man of the Match had the ball in the net after three minutes but was ruled offside then moments later almost scored again. Continually caused problems and in the second half won and converted a debatable penalty. Pulsating.
Alberto Aquilani [Fiorentina]
Scored his first hat-trick opening with a penalty before scoring with a low drive just before half-time. Continued to work hard and put the Viola ahead with powerful angled drive before being subbed to a standing ovation. Sensational.
Fabian Rinaudo [Catania]
The 26-year-old Argentinean midfielder, fresh on loan from Sporting Lisbon was the best player on the pitch in only his second game. He had no fear and fought for every ball and was decisive in everything he did. Unwavering.
Dries Mertens [Napoli]
Always looking to score and hit the wood twice as well as sending a header narrowly over the bar. Had the second most touches and totally involved in the attacking strategies of Napoli. Lively.
Gervinho [Roma]
Meant business from the off and scooted past several opponents down the left before cleverly sending over the cross for the opener. Scored the second after dancing on the edge of the box, before slotting past three defenders. Sublime.
Fernando Llorente [Juventus]
The Lion King was Juve’s ace in the hole and worked hard after Buffon’s dismissal leading the line solo. As the focal point of the team he grabbed the equaliser with a perfectly placed glancing header from 10 yards. Offensive.
