It may have been a few degrees under out on the pitch, but 11 players proved red hot as Dave Taylor picks his best team from Week 21.

Neto [Fiorentina]

The young Brazilian put on an assured showing and foiled several attempts from Edinson Cavani. Never afraid of coming off his line and always acted with confidence and determination, particularly when dealing with Goran Pandev’s imposing header. Scorching.

Matteo Contini [Siena]

Despite just nine starts this season, the 32-year-old hardly looked out of place. He also never allowed the opposition a minute’s respite, driving his team forward and the opposition backwards with real authority. Glowing.

Andrea Barzagli [Juventus” data-scaytid=”10″>Juventus]

Kept the Udinese” data-scaytid=”11″>Udinese forwards as quiet as an Africa Cup of Nations opener and with an ease that suggested he knew exactly what they were going to do. Also added menace up field. Inflammable.

Marquinhos [Roma]

Never allowed Rodrigo Palacio or Marko Livaja any space to exploit their movement in the area, in the air or the ground and was especially dominant over the Croatian. Pacey and commanding throughout, he also made several significant interceptions. Cauterising.

Alessio Cerci [Torino]

Another faultless performance down the right and sent in the perfect cross for the first goal. Always threatening, he scored the second after some wonderful work with Riccardo Meggiorini before coolly clipping the ball home over the 'keeper. Incinerating.

Mariano Julio Izco [Catania]

The Argentine completely bossed the midfield, never stopped running throughout and was always ready to take the ball off the opposition and start another attack. It was his perfect ball that set up 'Pitu' Barrientos to score the winner. Blistering.

Paul Pogba [Juventus]

Scored two instinctive and absolute screamers from long distance, the first measured at over a 100km/h. The French 19-year-old was only playing due to injuries, but, with this showing, the one-man tornado’s position should be nailed on. Incandescence.

Fredy Guarin [Inter]

It’s as if Wesley Sneijder of two seasons ago has been reincarnated as the Colombian caused problems throughout and it was his marvellous assist for Palacio that grabbed a point. Also worried with several long distance attempts. Luminosity.

Sergio Floccari [Lazio” data-scaytid=”36″>Lazio]

Opened the scoring with a looping header and continued to be a menace throughout, scoring another which was wrongfully called offside. Yet he had the last laugh as he earned a penalty that Hernanes converted for the equaliser. Radiant.

Mirko Vucinic [Juventus]

Played some precise football and set up several chances before scoring past Daniele Padelli from six yards. Then in the right place at the right time to lay on a perfect ball for Alessandro Matri’s fine goal. Torrid.

Paulo Dybala [Palermo]

The youngster was Man of the Match and a breath of fresh air, switching positions to confuse the visitors. It certainly worked as he caused Lazio real problems and scored with a cool finish. Scorching.

Special mentions: Edinson Cavani [Napoli], Giampaolo Pazzini [Milan], Ignazio Abate [Milan], Davide Astori [Cagliari” data-scaytid=”57″>Cagliari], Erjon Bogdani [Siena].
