Truly awesome at times and saved several goal-bound strikes from German Denis and Maxi Moralez. Showed his pedigree when blocking a header from Denis at a corner, then stopping Cristian Raimondi’s follow up with his feet. Magnificent.
Mattia De Sciglio [Milan]
The teenage prodigy was able to run at the Juve defence at every opportunity, thanks to the backing of his fellow defenders. Seriously tested Gigi Buffon early on, while his tireless presence also upset the normally rampant Kwadwo Asamoah. Exceptional.
Marquinhos [Roma]
The Brazilian youngster was a rock at the back, playing with an experience and intelligence far beyond his years. Never allowed the Pescara forwards an inch and almost scored in the second half. Outstanding.
Miguel Britos [Napoli]
Solid in the centre of defence and made several important interceptions. Always in the right place at the right time and, along with the excellent Alessandro Gamberini, limited the Cagliari” data-scaytid=”20″>Cagliari forwards to few real chances. Gargantuan.
Kevin Constant [Milan]
Blocked off most of Juve’s attacks down the left flank and had Mauricio Isla in knots. Later when Simone Padoin moved to the wing he also tied him up. Not as adventurous going forward but totally solid in defence. Unyielding.
Alessio Cerci [Torino]
Owned the right side of the pitch, marked Ruben Olivera out of the game and constantly probed away at the visitors’ back line. Rewarded with the opening goal after popping up at the back post. Superb.
Andrea Bertolacci [Genoa]
Was absolutely everywhere, menacing with three of four shots before his sharp reactions saw him snap home a volley from 15 yards out. Consistently troubled Atalanta and was the vital link between midfield and attack. Stunning.
Josip Ilicic [Palermo]
The Slovenian was always aware of his best position and showed it with both goals. His first a blistering drive from the edge of the area, his second came via a cool feint from 12 yards. Immense.
Alvaro Gonzalez [Lazio]
Always looking to exploit any mistakes and split Udinese wide open before and after opening the scoring with an absolute screamer. Simply unstoppable, he slipped into several different roles, confusing and outwitting the visitors at every turn. Inexorable.
Franco Brienza [Palermo]
The veteran forward played a little deeper and consequently caused much confusion in the Catania defence. Excellent when coming in from the flanks and on one of his bursts down the left he set up Ilicic with the perfect pass. Relentless.
Fabrizio Miccoli [Palermo]
Always at the forefront of everything good and kept Andujar on his toes throughout. His superb strike, which flew into the top corner, took the roof off the stadium, as the pocket-sized battleship scored his 100th goal. Dazzling.
