Roma’s win over Torino brought an end to the latest round of games. Dave Taylor picks his best XI from Week 13.

Federico Marchetti [Lazio]

Juventus” data-scaytid=”61″>Juventus didn’t win thanks to the outstanding stops of the Lazio custodian. After countless cracking saves, Gigi Buffon complemented him and undoubtedly cursed him at the same time. Sensational.

Javier Zanetti [Inter]

If everyone on the Inter side played with the consistency and commitment of the captain they would be table toppers. Always ready to make that vital interception and regularly got forward to put in several dangerous crosses. Impeccable.

Daniele Gastaldello [Sampdoria” data-scaytid=”68″>Sampdoria]

Showed why he was given a five-year extension last season. Stood up to a revitalised Genoa after the break and with his ability to lead the defence and inspire his teammates, he dealt firmly with everything. Faultless.

Gonzalo Rodriguez [Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”71″>Fiorentina]

Scored after just five minutes by absolutely slamming the ball past ‘keeper Andrea Consigli. Was always in the right place at the right time and kept Atalanta’s” data-scaytid=”73″>Atalanta’s forwards quiet throughout. Commanding.

Manuel Pasqual [Fiorentina]

Gave security to the Viola’s left flank and regularly reached Atalanta’s by-line. It was from his super free kick that Rodriquez opened the scoring and if not for Consigli’s super save he would have scored himself. Versatile.

Alberto Aquilani [Fiorentina]

A veteran performance, that reminded everyone that while sometimes form is temporary, class is permanent. Scored a bristling brace, both of which were supremely decisive and also set up Luca Toni for the fourth goal. Classic.

Sergio Almiron [Catania]

An excellent performance throughout as he beat everyone to the ball to head in the opener from a corner. He then scored his second with a brilliant curved ball that screamed into the back of net via an angled drive. Acumenic.

Gokhan Inler [Napoli]
Opened the scoring with his awareness as his long-distance effort wrong-footed the ‘keeper. Always at the centre of things his intelligence saw him halt Milan’s counter-attacks on several crucial occasions, as he bossed the midfield. Responsive.

Marco Sau [Cagliari” data-scaytid=”88″>Cagliari]

A superb display and a complete pain in the back side for the Inter defenders. Cleverly sprung the offside trap for his first goal and then was the first to react to a rebound for his second. Outstanding.

Alberto Gilardino [Bologna]

Using all his experience he scored the opener with an awesome half-volley into the far top corner. Later he scored again, only for the ref to disallow it for an earlier infringement and give a penalty instead. Authorative.

Stephan El Shaarawy [Milan]

The beating pulse at the heart of Milan’s fightback, he scored two brilliant goals as his incisiveness clearly worried Napoli. Never stopped trying and almost scored the winner at the death. Awesome.

Special mentions: Samir Handanovic [Inter], Andrea Poli [Sampdoria], Mauro Icardi [Sampdoria], Francesco Lodi [Catania], Roberto Pereyra [Udinese” data-scaytid=”101″>Udinese], Arturo Vidal [Juventus], Giuseppe Biava [Lazio], Jean Francois Gillet [Torino].
