All Serie A players in Week 2 will wear a special patch marking the tragic bridge collapse in Genoa and a fund has been set up to aid victims.

The Lega Serie A announced the initiative after two opening weekend games, Milan-Genoa and SampdoriaFiorentina, were postponed due to the disaster.

The iconic Ponte Morandi collapsed last week, killing 43 people and leaving many more homeless.

All players will have the patch on their shirts, representing the bridge with the motto: ‘Genoa in our hearts.’
