Fabio Borini and Andrea Ranocchia are among Milan and Inter’s highest earners, while Maurizio Sarri pockets over €5m less than Max Allegri.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Borini’s €2.5m salary puts him joint-fifth at Milan, on par with Hakan Calhanoglu and Ricardo Montolivo and ahead of six summer arrivals, including Ricardo Rodriguez, Mateo Musacchio and Andre Silva.

Ranocchia is Inter’s seventh-highest with an annual income of €2.4m, more than the likes of Borja Valero and Antonio Candreva but behind top earner Mauro Icardi (€4.5m).

However, despite being Serie A’s third, best-paid Coach, Sarri’s salary of €1.4m is €5.6m behind that of Allegri and just over half of what Vincenzo Montella receives (€3m).

Gazzetta adds the gross wage bill in the Italian top flight has grown from €927m to €955m this season, with Juve (164m) leading the way, followed by Milan (€117m), Roma (€91m), Inter (€82m), Napoli (€81m) and Lazio (€62m).

The Rossoneri have made the biggest jump in terms of wages paid out (€37m), in stark contrast to their city rivals, who have slashed their wage bill from €120m to €82m.
