Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been ruled out of the upcoming Derby della Capitale against Roma through suspension.

The 27-year-old Serbian midfielder is a vital part of Maurizio Sarri’s squad in the Italian capital, being a focal point of the squad both going forward and defending. Milinkovic-Savic has scored five goals and provided seven assists across 17 appearances this season, continuing to shine despite the endless transfer market noise.

As announced by the Lega Serie A sporting judge, Milinkovic-Savic’s booking against Salernitana has been confirmed, meaning he’ll miss out on the upcoming Derby della Capitale due to a yellow-card suspension.

Losing the Serbian star is a big blow for Sarri and his squad, who’ll also have to do without talismanic striker Ciro Immobile, who is still out with a hamstring injury.

Milinkovic-Savic has played in 14 Rome derbies before, winning five and drawing three. In those games, he’s netted three goals and provided three assists.

  1. We have to also beat Lega this season, not only opponents in the field, they clearly have an agenda against us and trying to push up specific teams. What happened on Sunday was scandalous, not even giving a foul on Salernitana‘s player kick in Lazzaari’s ankle but aim Sergente immediately after he gets in the pitch so he miss the derby. It’s ok, we are Lazio after all, alone against everyone!!!!
