Alberto Aquilani believes former Sassuolo teammate Stefano Sensi is ‘the right man’ to bolster Milan’s midfield as ‘he reminds me of Marco Verratti’.
Sensi has been heavily linked with Milan in recent weeks, given his breakthrough campaign with Sassuolo and the Rossoneri’s need for reinforcements in the middle of the park.
“The right man for Milan? Yes because Stefano is young and has great potential,” Aquilani, who played for both clubs, told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The right man for Milan? Yes because Stefano is young and has great potential,” Aquilani, who played for both clubs, told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“He’s grown a lot in recent months. He reminds me of Verratti for the way he plays. A regista and mezz’ala in one? Exactly. He can carry out both roles in the middle of the park.
“As a regista he has an excellent vision, even if he lacks physicality, or if you want to build a team devoted to dribbling then he’s ideal.
“Stefano’s a very polite and down-to-earth guy, who has his head on his shoulders. I certainly didn’t find him, but what struck me was his attention to the advice I gave him in training.
“He’d often run a bit on empty, so I suggested to him the position to occupy tactically, which would make the most of his characteristics.”
The 34-year-old then passed judgment on ex-Milan teammate Gennaro Gattuso, who celebrated a year at the helm in November.
“Rino was one of the leaders in the dressing room,” he added.
“He had great character, so I wasn’t surprised to see him in the dugout. Rather, Gattuso amazed me with the organisation of his teams and their continuous desire to play attacking football.”
