“We want to keep our good run going both in terms of the tactical and technical point of view. We want to play a great game,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We will face a Genoa side that will be desperate for points and who probably didn’t expect to be in this situation at the start of the season.

“They have good players in their squad, and we will need a great performance in front of our fans. It will be a tight game and we must be motivated.

“They have an experienced Coach and we will have to be careful, as they didn’t deserve to lose their last few matches.”

Empoli’s defeat to Bologna on Saturday means a victory would take SPAL over the line to safety, whereas Genoa are currently only five points clear of the bottom three.

Semplici was asked about the Grifone fans, who have not made the trip in protest against President Enrico Preziosi.

“Their problem with the fans, when there are moments like these you need to understand how the players will react, but I don’t think it will be a pleasant situation for them.

“Their fans are usually very supportive of the team and I hope that we can take advantage of their absence.

“Having said that, we will focus on ourselves and what we are doing. We want a big performance, even though I saw a little bit too much enthusiasm around the team.

“It is right that our fans will be enthusiastic, but we must keep out feet on the ground because we still have our goal of safety to achieve.”

SPAL squad for Genoa: Fulignati, Gomis, Poluzzi, Viviano; Bonifazi, Felipe, Regini, Vicari; Costa, Fares, Kurtic, Lazzari, Missiroli, Murgia, Rizzo Pinna, Schiattarella, Valdifiori, Valoti; Antenucci, Floccari, Paloschi, Petagna, Spina
